For the past few years, there has been a lot of hype around the ketogenic diet. I’ve seen some wonderful weight loss results and improved health of friends, however it might not be the right fit for everybody.

The ketogenic diet is where you switch from burning glucose for fuel (from carbs) to fat for fuel – known as ketosis. This means significantly reducing your carbohydrate intake and increasing your healthy fats and proteins. Basically, depriving yourself of glucose will force your body into ketosis as a survival mechanism.

I personally am one of those people who doesn’t enjoy or thrive long term on a ketogenetic diet. I cant live without my warming morning oats in winter. I don’t believe its healthy to starve your body of carbohydrates over a long period of time either. However I do love a lot of the recipes because they are always loaded with nourishing wholefoods.
